New NATO headquarters gets the largest zinc roof in Europe
The enormous building is equipped with a stunning durable zinc roof. It presented a considerable challenge for zinc processor Ridder / Skins For Buildings and zinc supplier NedZink. Not just because of the size but also due to the project''s height - installing the new NedZink NOVA Pro-Tec took place at a height of 38 metres. That''s why both project partners adopted an intelligent, efficient working method. NedZink supplies coils of new NedZink NOVA Pro-Tec to the building site. Ridder produces standing seams from them on the ground. The 26-metre long standing seams are then hoisted on to the roof by a crane and firmly fixed in place on a solid roof construction with clips: a steel deck with profile plates covered in a layer of FOAMGLAS® a hundred millimetres thick. The construction, which began in October 2010, is expected to be completed in 2016. Then NATO can show off the largest zinc roof in Europe!
