NEW: green roof system by Nophadrain

What is an intensive green roof?

Intensive green roofs are comparable to soil-bound green areas, such as gardens and park landscapes. The vegetation for this roof needs a lot of water and regular maintenance. The vegetation consists of lawns, shrubs, and trees and can easily be combined with pedestrian and vehicular pavements. Intensive green roofs are not only found on buildings, but also over underground constructions such as car parks. The space taken up by the buildings and underground constructions is indirectly returned by installing an intensive green roof.

Advantages of an intensive green roof

Optimal use of space: both the quality and quantity of the living environment is increased by making use of stacked space, particularly in urban areas.

Reduction in sewer system loads: the green roof system slows down rainwater runoff during peak loads that occur at times of increasingly frequent downpours.

Combatting the heat island effect: unlike concrete roofs, green roofs do not fully convert solar energy into heat, but into steam instead. This has a cooling effect on the surrounding area.

Protection of the waterproofing membrane: the vegetation helps to counteract the harmful effect of sunlight and rain on the waterproofing membrane. This protects the waterproofing membrane and it increases its lifespan.
