233 are the products chosen for the ADI Design Index 2021, the selection through which the ADI Design Permanent Observatory gathers every year the best of industrial design.

An appointment that has become a point of reference for design quality from furniture to vehicles, from machine tools to communication, without forgetting social design.

This year’s choices testify to the vitality of innovation within the ideas and solid solutions presented

by Italian design and complete the preselection that will be submitted in 2022 to the international jury of the XXVII Compasso d’Oro, the most prestigious industrial design award worldwide.

Babila XL recycled grey, designed by Odo Fioravanti for Pedrali, is one of the products selected for the ADI Design Index.

Babila XL recycled grey is an armchair featuring a shell made entirely from recycled material: 50% from plastic material post-consumer waste and 50% from plastic material industrial waste.

Plastic material post-consumer waste comes from products that have been used and then duly recycled by consumers, such as plastic bottles or food packaging. The industrial element comes from plastic waste, containers and films.

The material chosen for the legs respects the “green” philosphy of the company as well: FSC® C114358-certified solid ash wood finished with water-based paints formulated with 40% raw materials sourced from “waste” plant substances.

Babila XL recycled grey alternates rational and straight lines with curves in order to create a link between the artificial world of industrial products and the natural, sinuous world of the human body.

The aim is to offer greater seating comfort thanks to the removable lining that, recalling a woman’s dress, may be cleaned with ease.

A significant number of the products selected for the ADI Design Index 2021 is exhibited in Milan, at the ADI Design Museum, from 27 October to 7 November. The exhibition will move to Rome later.
