Sustainability can be planned by blending simple shapes with efficient manufacturing
technologies to process materials. This is how Duetto came to be, starting from a mere
sheet of metal. The designer’s intuition plays with full and empty spaces and on the
concept that a small table must be primarily the companion of a multitude of daily
activities.
This table is made by applying laser technology to a 3-mm thick, ¼ square metre large
sheet of metal. The tabletop is achieved by cutting a square or round shape out of the
centre of sheet metal, depending on the type of table desired. The metal is then folded
to form the base of the table while the top is welded over it. The table is then protected
with epoxy paint and finished with water-based varnishes.
We believe that work and producing furniture should be done in a sustainable and
healthful way. That´s way we were the first who use water-based glossy lacquers
instead of polyurethane varnishes. For our employees’ health and to reduce pollution in
the home. Our factories are 60% self-sufficient in terms of energy consumption, thanks
to the use of photovoltaic solar panels. Offcuts are used to produce energy to heat
kilns, and our packaging systems are 100% recyclable.
