Wall Covering with Metal is Ideal for Interiors

Planium Metals to Cover Interiors

Covering with metal is always a solution that offers the interior a touch of originality and brilliance. In this way the environment in question is transformed, it is given a new soul, a new chromatic order; sometimes the transformation draws directly from innovation, even making use of some historical references.

Covering a wall involves the adoption of a coating that gives a change of image: in the case of Planium, the proposal focuses on metal. Combining different metals to obtain contrasts among the colors that have a specific meaning, but also playing with shapes is an important point when choosing furniture. For example, the triangular textures form rectangles of different colors between them, or you can opt for a more minimalist geometry such as that of the squares or long metal plates that embellish a wall. Precisely because of the luminous and scenographic qualities of this thickness, metal becomes a frequent creative note in current interior design projects. Using it on the wall, engaging scenarios are evoked, playing on the alternation or concordance between warm and cold tones.

Planium works a lot with different types of Steel, which are mostly gray in color: Stainless Steel, Embossed Steel, Smooth Brushed Steel, Satinized Steel, Canvas with multiple textures, Stainless Concrete (so called for its appearance): a trend for an industrial and “urban” style.

In addition, there are two other different steels: Calamine which combines Anthracite with Blue and shades ranging from Light Blue to Blue, and Oxidized Steel which tends to the warmth of browns. In fact, this Steel is in harmony with Copper in furnishing if you opt for a soul that refers to the qualities of the earth. Even more than Copper is the warm shade of brass, its alloy, whose use for interiors had extraordinary success at the beginning of the 20th century, particularly in the 20s and 30s, and then re-exploded starting from the 10s. of our century (with a strong return from 2018). Therefore, playing with the pairings is what is suggested: Blue with Gold, Cassel Earth with Slate, Silver with Air Force Blue, light with dark, cold with heat.

Planium Projects with Metal on The Wall: Sets that Last over Time

In his long experience in applying metals to walls, Planium has participated in numerous projects in Italy and Europe with architects who wanted to make the most of the aesthetics of the material. Thanks to the AC02 Stick-on Wall System, the Ticket Office of Palazzo della Signoria in Florence was covered in 2014 with Calamina installed on the walls behind the desks. A scenario that enhances the importance of the Florentine context.

In the same city and in the same year, another project involved the important Museo del Novecento, with Calamine as the protagonist and the installation of AC02 Stick-on Wall: its multicolored streaks between Air Force Blue, Anthracite Gray, Azure Scale (Steel Blue, Light Denim) and even Magenta Red are the background to some of the most important paintings of Western history.

Then there is the possibility of covering through the metal also with regard to architectural spaces of a historical nature. This is the case of a Redevelopment and enhancement of a nineteenth-century complex in Milan in the Cordusio area in which Planium has worked to cover pillars and beams with Champagne-colored anodized aluminum plates, demonstrating that it can be used for custom projects of a heterogeneous nature in urban and non-urban contexts and more.

Another recent Planium design that invests in Calamine Steel is related to Moscova 33 located in the homonymous street in the center of Milan. The redevelopment of the area and environments has Planium as protagonist for a totally customized project as regards the entrance: a new space of over 2,000 m² for retail, 18,000 m² for offices, 6 floors in a high-tech, efficient and flexible. For Moscova 33, rectangular panels of various sizes were created, precisely aligned, accurately fixed vertically and horizontally.
