Dialogue between the indoors & the outdoors

A house for outdoor living...

In the classic Mediterranean tradition, the villa owned by the recently retired Mr. and Mrs. Dupont is characterized by being very open to the outside. Sunshine is guaranteed 300 days a year for this elegant building, with a light, cubic design. 'We wanted a dialogue between the indoors and the outdoors,' says Pierre Dupont, an industrial art and design engineer. Having fallen in love with the Mediterranean climate, the Duponts decided on a village in southern France that offered the possibility of a made-to-measure single-storey house, where they could receive their friends, grown-up children and grandchildren.

The largest window, overlooking the pool, consists of three sliding sections. It is 3.5 metres high and 5.5 metres wide! 'The lifting equipment to install the frame was impressive,' recalls Pierre Dupont. As a professional - capable of listing all the companies that played a role on the site, and their respective trades, in under two minutes - he praises the timing as faultless. 'I immediately liked Emmanuel Nebout's architectural project, which matched our requirements.

The design phase was fast. And the companies involved not only excelled in their fields but also ensured that they coordinated with each other perfectly during construction.' The obvious implication being that this is not always the case... It has to be said that the project owner left nothing to chance. He already knew Emmanuel Nebout on a professional basis. There was a relationship of total trust, which helped with such an important project. Furthermore, well before the construction phase, Pierre Dupont identified Profiles Systèmes' aluminium joinery, installed by Profiles Systèmes Alu-Tech Certified Joiner. 'I visited the production plant in Baillargues. The people I met really knew their stuff. The joinery was elegantly designed and well-made.'

Built on a 1,000 m2 plot, the villa is surrounded by greenery. Bamboo and roses on the south side, along the boundary walls; bay and fruit trees (apple, plum, fig and apricot) on the north side. Planters are filled with bougainvillea and honeysuckle. The garage is surrounded by roses. Pine trees, a cedar, a red maple, a magnolia and an almond tree complete the garden landscape.
