PROJET 1, 2, 3 FROM DYSON, GLASSOLUTIONS & KNOLL

An innovative modern living project from three industry experts

In 2014, Saint-Gobain‘s Parisian gallery, A Glass House, welcomed Dyson and French architects Didier & Fabrice Knoll as part of an unprecedented collaboration that reinvents essential spaces in the home. Dubbed Projet 1, 2, 3, the innovative capsule was developed in response to the increasingly limited space in which we live. The project was on display at last week’s Equip’Hotel where we got a firsthand view of the trio’s collaborative interpretation of modern living.

With urban spaces becoming increasingly dense and living space becoming increasingly rare, boundaries in the home are gradually disappearing. Oftentimes, the living room is also the bedroom, and the bedroom bleeds into the kitchen. There’s no room for the superfluous. Thus, Projet 1, 2, 3 begins with Saint-Gobain’s Contour curved glass walls encompassing a stripped-down kitchen and bathroom.

Both the kitchen and the bathroom flow into one another and are composed of only the very basic elements. The spaces include the space-saving and innovative Dyson Airblade Tap that combines an automatic tap with Dyson’s powerful, automatic Airblade hand dryer, creating a high-quality design object that is a visual focal point.

The space also demonstrates the best of Saint-Gobain’s glass-making expertise with an LED-lit shower screen that was designed in collaboration with Didier & Fabrice Knoll. It creates a soft, relaxing bathroom ambiance without the need for additional accessories. The capsule also featured their Desire anti-fog mirror, which is LED-lit and has a special heating film. It can also be transformed into a bathroom speaker.

Projet 1, 2, 3 is small-scale proof of what can come of the combined effort of different experts and is a successful interpretation of contemporary urban space-saving solutions.
