ROMAIN GIUSIANO HIGHLIGHTS CONTRAST IN IMAGES

Comedians and dancers interacting with a waste processing plant

For last October’s Science Festival, French photographer Romain Giusiano was able to capture an unusual performance. During the visit of a waste processing plant, comedian and dancers started interacting with the extraordinary venue, exposing the plant from a brand new angle. The photo shoot resulted in a series of almost surreal images.

But the interesting aspect of Giusiano’s work relies on various contrasts that are exposed in these beautiful pictures. Much like in design or architecture, what most strikes the viewer is the wonderful opposition between the organic and inorganic, between chaos and organization, between humans and their environment. It takes us back to the context with which an object interacts (in this case the red garden chair and the plant itself).

So in the end, these pictures bring us back to some of the most important questions facing architects or designers – with just an added hint of psychedelia.
