A modular sofa that is designed to include the whole family

Danish designer Lærke Rune created her modular sofa with the whole family in mind. After conducting empirical research, she determined that the floor is an important part of the couch, particularly for children. Having different levels would theoretically reduce the gap between the couch and the floor thus providing a sense of togetherness.

Flexibility and adaptability was also of utmost importance for Rune, so she created a couch with three levels. Each level can serve as a coffee table, play table for children or additional seating. When not in use, they can be tucked away under the largest level.

What could be complicated is, of course, made very simple by the signature Scandinavian aesthetic. The base is a minimal load bearing structure of light wood and it is adorned with effortless cushions. Some of us are just not convinced when it comes to questions of comfort, but the baby seems happy, so we’ll infer that it’s fantastic.
