SWAROVSKI’S MANGUE GROOVE AT DESIGN MIAMI

The celebrated brand brings a passionate installation to this year's show

Nadja Swarovski is committed to innovation. Her cutting-edge design collaborations include the likes of Ron Arad and Zaha Hadid, collaborations which demonstrate the versatility of Swarovski crystal and keep the brand perfectly relevant.

Ms. Swarovski is equally dedicated to the Swarovski Waterschool, a program that seeks to teach children about the importance of sustainable water management and water sanitation. For this reason, Swarovski Crystal Palace chose to work with likeminded Brazilian architect and designer, Guilherme Torres, at Design Miami. Together, they created Mangue Groove, a gorgeous installation inspired by Brazilian mangrove forests that expresses Swarovski’s commitment to water and environmental preservation.

Adding another interest of his own, Torres used the Voronoi diagram to explore the balance between nature and science. The structure incorporates Swarovski’s lead-free Advanced Crystal to fill synthetic tubes that are lit by energy-efficient LEDs.

Visitors are able to navigate freely through the space, walking on wooden pathways, surrounded by the rising mangrove structures. A shallow pool surrounds the ensemble, adding the last essential mangrove element. Light and sound transform the visit into an immersive experience each day at 5:00pm.
