A Swedish design group that puts a twist on classic design
With their ability to make traditional objects new again, Stockholm-based Front is a design trio that has our (and everyone else’s) attention. Consisting of Sofia Lagerkvist, Charlotte von der Lancken and Anna Lindgren, the group met at Stockholm’s School of Arts, Crafts & Design where they were studying industrial design. Ten years after they first presented at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Front has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world (Porro, Moroso), creating everything from a chaise longue made of Veuve Cliquot boxes to their recent ice cream cloud cakes for Haagen-Dasz.
Their versatility is their strength. Rather than aiming to create an overall signature style, they focus on each individual project, always striving for singularity. “We want things to mean something for you for a long time, and we believe in adding that little feature that makes you curious,” states Sofia Lagerkvist. Their work frequently hops back and forth between the worlds of art and design, blurring lines along the way. Indeed, with Front’s diverse and intriguing endeavors, the only thing you can expect is the unexpected, a quality that will surely keep them going strong in the future.
