Alpina occupies space “not as volumes but rather as a set of vectors and planes in the air.”

Designed by Argentina-based RIES, Alpina is a striking, minimalist furniture collection composed of slender lines and angular geometry.

The collection, the Alpina #01 Series, consists of four component parts; a table, a chair, a desk, and a multi-purpose shelf.

Say the designers, the collection “occupies [space] not as volumes but rather as a set of vectors and planes in the air.”

“Research looks into the capacity of a matrix to mutate in order to conceive formal pieces. By operating on this matrix with the sole premise of preserving its proportions, spatial relationships are established that define the identity of the formal pieces.”
