ROTHELOWMAN wraps rippling metal ribbons to melbourne apartments

australian architecture and interior design firm ROTHELOWMAN‘s proposal for a $12 million residential scheme in melbourne features a façade clad in sun-stroked metal ribbons.

called ‘brasshouse’, the development is an homage to the timeless character of metal, illustrated by the rippling, sheen effect of the building’s exteriors.

located in the city’s hawthorn east suburb, the aesthetic of the brass ribbons wrapping around the entire building instills a sense of movement. the use of the metal is continued throughout each apartment in small accents and finishes. brass trimming can be seen in the kitchen and geometric bathroom spaces, which is balanced by the tap-ware and complemented by the subway-influenced tile backdrop.

‘there’s something timeless about brass, which is ideal for these homes because we’re designing contemporary living spaces in a very well established location,’ comments ROTHELOWMAN interior design associate alicia lynch.
