derya arpaç explores behavior & affordances in intentionally non-intentional

‘intentionally non-intentional’, is a small collection of objects by turkish designer derya arpaç that explore ideas of collecting, categorizing, storing, and displaying prized possessions.

arpaç arrived at the project after noticing the direct relationship between individuals’ routines, habits, and behaviors to their built environments.

curious of the sometimes strange ways people engage with their surroundings, ‘intentionally non-intentional’ seeks to not only investigate how objects are approached and interacted with, but also the range of affordances provided by the simplest artifacts. beyond the idea, the collection was the perfect opportunity for material exploration. arpaç continually experimented with adding different stones to concrete, and attempted to push the limits of the element in as small of scale as possible.
