What's special about this place is the amount of upcycled materials and the use of renewable energy sources that greatly reduce its carbon emissions. The hostel supports local artisans and businesses and offers tours of the city's authentic places off the beaten tourist track.The hostel, located in Belgrade’s tranquil Zvezdara district, combines the aesthetics of industrial design and the vintage charm of upcycling. Its owner, Branko, has a great passion for sustainability and has made sure to use sustainable materials and techniques, which dominate the entire building. Rainwater is collected to be used in the toilets, while solar panels provide energy and significantly offset the hostel’s carbon footprint, while on-site recycling facilities reduce the amount of waste.

Sleek and modern, the Fair and Square Hostel features upcycled materials and furniture pieces, including wooden crates and scrap metal, hand-made tables made from wood panels and repurposed metal. Visitors can use the kitchen to socialize, relax and cook a nice meal before going out and enjoying Belgrade’s nightlife scene.
