Sleep beneath the Milky Way in this tiny and remote alpine cabin on skis

It might not be easy to get to this tiny cabin in the Alps, but those who succeed are promised a magical and unforgettable night beneath the stars.Raniero Campigotto, the owner of the popular mountain lodge Rifugio Col Gallina, recently installed the Starlight Room, a secluded and mobile bedroom located at an altitude of 2,055 meters on the snowy Dolomite mountains.

Set on a pair of skis for easy mobility, the glazed Starlight Room boasts spectacular views and can only be reached by snowshoe or snowmobile.

Located just a few kilometers from the popular alpine town of Cortina in northern Italy, the Starlight Room was towed into place by a snowmobile and is set along the Falzarego ridge in one of the Alps’ most scenic spots facing the Tofane, the Cortina basin, and Lagazuoi Mountain. Free from any light or noise pollution, this remote refuge immerses guests in the splendor of the starry night sky and offers stunning front-row seats of the Dolomites as they change color from dawn to dusk. Local artisans were hired to construct the alpine cabin from wood, metal, and thermally insulated glass.

The tiny interior comprises an adjustable bed, a bench with storage, a flat-screen TV, adjustable thermostat, and an outdoor bathroom. A traditional breakfast and dinner is included with a stay at the Starlight Room, which accommodates up to two guests a night. A reservation of the Starlight Room costs 300 euros per night.
