Bob Chair by Ehud Eldan

With legs that echo the seat and back rest, Ehud Eldan‘s Bob chair expresses symmetry both visually and structurally.

The chair is made of laminated wood with four identical molded plywood pieces, each piece cut to a different form and covered with an Oak veneer sheet and then assembled.

A second model is a more industrial version with a seat and back rest made from the same mold. It has four metal legs which are attached to the sides creating a floating sensation.

“Symmetry is a sense of proportion and balance. It is often used in architecture – As a theme in mosques and cathedrals, it’s not as common in furniture design.” says Eldan.

Bob was Eldan’s final project as a student in industrial design at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem.
