Airbnb tops world-famous ski jump with an incredible glass-walled penthouse

We’ve featured many fascinating Airbnb rentals on Inhabitat, but none are quite as jaw-dropping as the latest listing created by the hospitality company: a glass-walled penthouse built atop the world-famous Holmenkollen ski jump.

Created in collaboration with interior designers Melissa Hegge and Nina Holst, this spectacular abode offers panoramic floor-to-ceiling views of Oslo, the snow-capped mountains, and surrounding forest. Two lucky guests were recently selected to spend the night in the penthouse suite and will have the option to zip line down from the 200-foot-high ski jump after check out.

Located in Oslo, the Holmenkollen ski jump has been used by winter sports daredevils and champions from around the world. The fully furnished Airbnb pdapatenthouse suite was built at the top of the ski jump—in the space where ski jumpers prepare for lift off—to boast unparalleled views and the city’s tallest roof terrace. The hotel room is more than just a great view; the cozy suite includes a half bathroom, kitchen, and WIFI.

Unfortunately, the beautiful glass-walled penthouse isn’t quite as easy to book as Airbnb’s other accommodations. The company recently hosted a competition, now closed, that invited individuals from around the world to write in why they (and a lucky guest) would like to spend the night atop the Holmenkollen ski jump. Airbnb has already selected the lucky winners, who will also be treated to all the food and drink they’ll need during their stay.
