Energy-efficient wooden structures are sprouting up around the country, offering ambiance and quality at a reasonable cost. This trend is also revitalizing local heritage by drawing inspiration from barns and other traditional buildings. Spruce, larch and other species are finding their way into modern design concepts around the country, sometimes without the use of metal fasteners.
