MILAN 2015: TOM DIXON PRESENTS MELT LIGHT AT THE CINEMA

The British design presents a new blown glass pendant "crushed by Front"

Tomorrow morning, Tom Dixon’s fanciful exhibition, The Cinema, opens to the public as part of designjunction edit in Milan. The British designer has turned the abandoned cinema into a showcase for his latest work, which includes the blown glass Melt light.

Melt is the result of a collaboration between Dixon and the Swedish design group Front. Resembling molten glass, the lamps have a deceptively opaque mirror finish when turned off and become translucent when turned on. The changeable surface casts a kaleidoscopic light on the surroundings. It will be available for purchase on site in gold, chrome or copper. The Cinema runs until April 19th, and you can read more about designjunction in the special live edition of our e-magazine.
