The Swiss manufacturer continues to explore the limits of SaphirKeramik

Patented by Swiss manufacturer Laufen, SaphirKeramik is a super-strong ceramic material that can be shaped into impossibly thin geometric forms (think porcelain without the fragility). Laufen brought Munich-based designer Konstantin Grcic on board to push the boundaries of ceramic in bathroom design with this new, innovative material. The result is the VAL bathroom collection.

First presented at iSaloni 2014, Laufen and Grcic have recently added to the sculptural collection, which was presented this week at ISH 2015 in Frankfurt. The newest washbasin from Grcic is simpler, more streamlined, focused on the harmonious blend of function and form. Its ultra-thin and well-proportioned rectangular profile is emphasized by rounded corners that appear identically angled. It is also available in various sizes and in a circular version. Check out the whole collection below.
