FEDERICO FLORIANI’S MASK MIRROR FOR PETITE FRITURE

Southern Italian door ornaments inspire this series of geometric tinted mirrors

Mask is inspired by the metal ornaments that adorn the doors of southern Italy. Designed by Federico Floriani for French design brand Petite Friture, the series of mirrors reinterprets the decorative object with graphic lines that resemble a visage etched into the reflective metal.

The young Italian designer, who has worked with the likes of Fabrica and Studio Formafantasma, wanted subtle geometric forms to imitate the lines of paint on a shaman’s face. The lines are screen printed onto the tinted surface of the mirror, creating an expressive pattern that delicately interrupts the reflection.

Part of Petite Friture’s 2015 collection, the Mask mirror is available in three different forms, and each form comes with its own metallic tint.
