OTURA BASIC BY RIANNE KOENS

A modular furniture system that is both functional and quirky

Otura Basic is a modular furniture system that combines seating, storage and a table in one adaptable package. A graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven, Rianne Koens designed the system after being inspired by the exceptionally warm reception from her Turkish in-laws. The stackable system is frank, open and friendly, consisting of 12 mix-and-match modules.

Handmade in Turkey, the original version was made of solid acer wood and covered with suede leather, but Otura Basic is a stripped down version made of 100% beach plywood. Thanks to the use of a wooden structure, drawers slide in and out without the necessity for wheels and tracks, and the legs can easily be removed and stored. Different box widths give the product a playful, heart-winning aesthetic that is as warm as the Turkish hospitality that inspired it.
