DDW 2014: DE ZEEFDRUKKERIJ BY REMY VAN ZANDBERGEN
An innovative graduate project that reveals the production process
According to the Design Academy Eindhoven, they “strive to nourish a hothouse of ideas that reflect and contribute to the wider world.” Clearly, whatever they are doing, it’s working as scads of innovative designers graduate from the school every year. And every year, the designers exhibit their graduation project at Dutch Design Week. Despite the stiff competition, recent graduate Remy van Zandbergen stands out from the crowd.
His project De Zeefdrukkerij was nominated for the 2014 Keep an Eye Grant. It is at once an interactive installation and functional product. It opens up the production process behind the manufacturing of a simple object, a business card. From top to bottom, every element of the screen-printing process becomes part of a story that prints a usable business card at the end.
