DESIGN REVIVAL: VITRA’S PROUVÉ RAW OFFICE EDITION AT ORGATEC 2014

A plethora of office inspiration courtesy of the Swiss design label and Jean Prouvé

Orgatec 2014 is in full swing, and Vitra is busy providing office inspiration with new products and a series of ‘workstyle’ installations at the trade fair. Each of the installations has a distinct visual identity, but all are designed with employee productivity, motivation and contentment in mind. The different workstyles include a Hacker Workshop with ultra-adaptable furniture, an Innovation Workstyle Atelier with a creativity stimulating layout, a Café designed for office conviviality and an Industrial Workshop that features the Prouvé RAW office furniture.

Originally designed by Jean Prouvé in the 1940s, the Prouvé RAW Office Edition revives a series of furniture and lighting created for major French industrial companies. Re-edited by Vitra with the help of Dutch design label G-Star Raw, the series was used in G-Star’s new headquarters, which were completed by Rem Koolhaas in 2014.

Despite its advanced age, the collection feels unquestionably modern. Prouvé’s logical angles and industrial materials define each piece, and the collection not only fits G-Star’s own brand identity, but would also be at home in a variety of modern office settings.

Vitra is also presenting the Allstar chair by Konstantin Grcic, the Super Fold Table by Jasper Morrison, the Grand Executive office armchair by Antonio Citterio, the Aluminium and Soft Pad Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames in new leather covers and the Alcove Plume Contract sofa. Orgatec is on until October 25th, so stop by Vitra’s booth to soak up some office ideas.
