DDW 2014: PALET BY LEX POTT FOR NEW WINDOW

The innovative Dutch design label presents the latest colorful experiment from Lex Pott

Dutch designer Lex Pott is known for his in-depth exploration of color, particularly the blend and transition of colors. With his latest project, Palet, he has created a series of polymer clay vases that are handmade using a special technique. By rolling together two colors of clay, the boundary between the two colors and the two materials becomes fuzzy, developing one solid slab of beautiful gradients. The slabs are then turned into vases, each vase entirely unique and different from every single angle.

The project was commissioned by Dutch design label New Window.

New Window was founded in 2013 by Woes van Haaften as a vitrine for the stories behind creative designs. New Window is currently presenting Palet at Klokgebouw during Dutch Design Week along with Diptych, another of Pott’s creations, and a selection of other design narratives from David Derksen, Willem Popelier, Simon Wald-Lasowski and Rop van Mierlo.
