A luminary that shares our world with long-distance loved ones
Perfect for long-distance lovers, far away family and design-obsessed techies, Patch of Sky is a set of three Internet-connected luminaries that share, in real time, the sky above us with loved-ones, no matter where they are.
This concept design is the brainchild of a group of researchers at the communication research center Fabrica. Users of Patch of Sky sync the device with Facebook, which gathers data on weather conditions.
This information is then translated into one of eleven colored light animations, representative of the sky. In this way, these high-tech mirrors allow us to share a piece of common sky, and perhaps help us to feel closer to those who seem so far away.
