Dutch Designer take a stand with a sofa
When Dutch designer Khodi Feiz was asked to create a sofa for Artifort, it is obvious he took a stand in the eternal debate of design’s purpose. If some (like Fabio Novembre) say design is art with a hint of functionality, Feiz decided to adopt another way of thinking when coming up with the Bras Sofa System.
He chose to provide a solution to a problem that has lasted long enough: where should our arms be placed when we are seated on a chair or a sofa? This seemingly unimportant detail became the starting point for the Bras Sofa concept.
As can be seen on the quick sketch below, the design follows the natural curve of the body and offers an intuitive support to the arm and the back. The gentle curves of this sofa and its faceted corners look more inviting and comfortable. Attention has been paid to these aspects, while the general appearance is kept pure and simple, easily adaptable to all kinds of different fabrics or colors.
