A soothing rug collection by Israeli designers
Taking inspiration from the optical and kinetic art of Yaacov Agam or Victor Vasarely, Raw Edges delivered a rug collection to Golran that responds to very human problem – our constant need for change. Stability has never been our thing, and it is becoming less and less so. Yet, while we seek these changes in our physical surroundings, we also crave peace and calm.
Therefore, the Israeli design duo reinvented this Persian rug collection with the purpose of putting an end to our existential suffering. Although they drew their inspiration from optical illusions, they managed to channel it in a way that cancels the disturbing and tiresome feeling one might get from looking for too long.
Instead, the Lake Collection takes the receding and changing aspect of op-art and transforms it into a haven of tranquillity. The simple triangle patterns are cut by diagonal lines of varying heights to achieve the desired effect. Then, thanks to the pastel colors and the material used, the illusion becomes a gentle evolution throughout the various shades of changing daylight. A peaceful and colorful way to add life to a home.
