ROOM COLLECTION FURNITURE SYSTEM BY ERIK OLOVSSON & KYUHYUNG CHO

When design brings us closer to who we are

In the end, aren’t we all just kids at heart? If lots of the objects that we choose might hint at the answer, this ROOM Collection Furniture System by independent designers Erik Olovsson and Kyuhyung Cho not only responds “yes” to that first interrogation, but it also proves that designers can be kids at heart, too. What’s so great about these playful and light stackable blocks is that they stimulate our creativity. Made from pine plywood and pine veneer, they can be arranged anyway we like, whether it’s for horizontal or vertical orientation, and they include a stainless steel mirror and a low table. They’re an invitation into a part of us that we tend to link to childhood. But if to play, to create, to stack and to rearrange are among the first things we learn, it’s because it’s in our nature to do so. Erik Olovsson & Kyuhyung Cho give us back the freedom to make things the way we want instead of forcing us to adapt to a design. Not to mention the Scandinavian touch that only enhances this beautiful idea.
