INTERNATIONAL MINGLING: TONI GRILO

French designer and art director blossoms in Portugal

Toni Grilo’s style is worth mentioning here. While he gained notable experience when he graduated at the Ecole Boulle in Paris in 2001, the progress he made since his move to Lisbon is radically consistent. The discovery of a rich industrial and craft-focused country and the work achieved through several collaborations seduced him into staying put. In 2005 he founded a first agency, Objection, alongside designer Elder Monteiro, but opened his own studio in 2008, targeting the creation of products, scenography and furniture. He is now based in Porto, designing for international brands like Haymann, Riluc, the centenary silver manufacture Tpazio, and recently launched new design brand Blackcork.
