LAUNCH OF PLUMEN 002!

The energy efficient designer bulb is launching the second in its line

Get excited! Hulger has officially launched the Plumen 002 on Kickstarter.

For anyone with long term memory issues, Plumen 001 was launched in 2010 as the world’s very first low energy designer light bulb. We (and the entire globe) were smitten with its unique form, universal application and eco-friendly credentials.

For Plumen 002, the idea was to create a dimmer bulb that would be perfect for softer, more relaxed atmospheres. The design team focused their concept around sculpting the bulb rather than drawing it and became very influenced by the work of English sculptor Barbara Hepworth. Nicolas Roope, the Founder, Creative Director and Designer, states: “The geometry of the Plumen 002 creates interesting resonances in the square and oblong spaces they will usually inhabit. The effect is particularly strong when used in series and when played off against walls and surfaces.”

According to Plumen, they chose to launch with crowd funding in order to generate funds and momentum, thus guaranteeing the long term affordability of the bulb.

We love the bolder shape and the softer light with a design aesthetic that stands on its own.
