Adorable furniture with a dash of character

Good design tells a story, but the most important element of a story is a lovable character – something which Portugese design studio DAM has in abundance. In fact, Hugo Silva and Joana Santos have invented an entire cast of humoristic and functional furniture characters, including the principal actors: Nel and Maria. Yes, Nel and Maria are side tables with integrated lamps, but, really, they are so much more. Maria is a talker. She could talk the hands off of a clock, much to the perpetual amazement of Nel. They can both be team players or work well alone. They both wear little straw hats that are a nod to their Portugese origins…like we said, they’re not just furniture.
