AWARDING-WINNING RIBBON STOOL BY JAN LUTYK

An multiple award-winning design

Backless is definitively “in” this season. Stools are popping up left and right, but not all stools are created equal. The perfect example? Polish designer Jan Lutyk’s Ribbon stool which won a 2013 red dot design award on October 18th. Lightweight, stackable and ultra-minimalist, the stool is made from plywood that the designer bends in three directions. Lutyk’s creation gives an impression of infinite continuity, as if it were made from one single piece of wood or a even from a piece of ribbon. Best of all, the wood is locally sourced and very little is needed to create the design, meaning that it has the potential to be ultimately sustainable.
