Kohler Accompanies You with a Showerhead Smart Speaker Combo

Looks like you won’t be singing alone in the shower anymore.

Following up on last year’s move into a “smart toilet,” Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa will be a fixture in your shower thanks to the Kohler Moxie Showerhead and Smart Speaker.

The Moxie Showerhead is a two part system. The first part—the actual shower—is a circular ring. The second part is a waterproof, conical speaker (it has an IPX67 rating) that fits inside of the shower ring. The speaker is a separate piece and detaches from the ring so that it can be charged, using a cordless dock. When you’re ready to belt out the tunes behind your shower curtain, just reinsert the speaker and it’s show time, (or shower time, whatever you prefer). The speaker offers six to seven hours of playback on each charge; if you enable Alexa, that playback time drops to five hours. The speaker is designed to cover the white noise of the shower, and was tuned by Harman Kardon. The speaker also features exterior tactile controls to turn up or down the volume.

With DTV+, you can equip your shower with a touchscreen unit that controls the spray while also offering a speaker and a light. The DTV Prompt lets you load settings for the perfect shower every time. The DTV Mode uses a dial control to let you control your shower.

Moxie will be available sometime in late 2020 and comes as a simple Bluetooth speaker for $99 or as an Alexa version for $159; the showerhead costs an additional $70.
