Simple and Elegant: Sloan’s High-End Touch-Free Sink Streamlines Hand Washing

Sinks, soap dispensers, and hand dryers in public spaces are so commonplace that washing your hands typically goes by without a second thought.

But, for anyone tracking resources, the germ-conscious, and detail-oriented designers, these mundane systems can pose huge problems. Protruding dispensers make it difficult to get the most use out of a space, and they often take away from beautiful materials and finishes. To help frustrated designers and anyone concerned with hygiene or waste, Sloan® has found a simple and elegant solution to making this basic function better.

As a legendary craftsman of high-end sinks and bathroom finishes since 1906, Sloan set out to integrate their best contemporary products into one streamlined, revolutionary system, the AER-DEC™. Addressing designer concerns while also improving efficiency and fostering a healthier high-traffic environment, the AER-DEC shows how forward-thinking design can improve user experiences while also enhancing aesthetics anywhere. Parthiv Amin, VP of marketing at Sloan, calls it a, “Technical feat in achieving a combination of soap, rinse and dry in a patented basin, which is customizable to the architects and designers liking, has been a step forward in Sloan’s innovative solutions.”

Those who’ve never really put much thought into washing their hands won’t be able to go back to ordinary sinks after they use the sleek AER-DEC integrated sink system. Smart from the inside out, architects and designers can customize the AER-DEC to match their vision and make the most of the space they have to work with, starting with a variety of materials and shapes for the patent-pending AirBasin™. Silestone®, Dupont®, or Zodiaq® Quartz are available in a hundred colors and every basin can be shaped to fit a tight alcoves or float as a focal point themselves.

The customized basin is complemented by three Sloan products, completely integrated and intelligently positioned for a streamlined experience in any high-traffic public restroom: the BASYS® sensor-activated faucet, soap dispenser and their high-speed hand dryer. Each component allows the user to flow intuitively from one to the next. Aesthetically, polished-chrome surfaces and a variety of body shapes ranging from traditional to sharp and contemporary mean that the AER-DEC can blend in with any design. For those who want a dynamic element in their space, the LED backlights at the base of the sink allow for multiple colors that will blend with branding, seasonal changes, or accent colors throughout the room.

Sloan designers worked hard to create a sink that would eliminate the need to touch surfaces as well as keep the right amount of water right where it should be. Airflow is redirected across the basin so that backsplash or updrafts from the faucet are eliminated. The hand dryer is equipped with sound suppression technology and a HEPA air filter, while also using 80% less energy than conventional dryers. Infrared sensors ensure that every amount of soap dispensed is pre-measured and the water cuts off when necessary to save every last precious drop.

Healthier, better for the environment, and perfect for helping architects and designers to keep every aspect of their vision in line, Sloan’s AER-DEC takes a common task and transforms it into something remarkable.
