Milan Design Week 2026
Light as an Integral Element of Architecture
Milan Design Week 2026 once again demonstrated the close relationship between architecture, design, and light. In this context, PROLICHT contributed to several international collaborations, presenting lighting solutions conceived as an integral part of spatial design.
In collaboration with Tom Dixon at “Il Mulino Estate”, a former industrial site in central Milan was transformed into a layered exhibition environment. Architectural lighting solutions, the modular SEN system, and G-Boards as an integrative platform for decorative luminaires were used to structure space, define sightlines, and shape atmosphere. In particular, the interaction with historic architecture highlighted how light can influence spatial depth and perception.
At Design Palazzo Austria, lighting was conceived as a subtle architectural layer. It supported the exhibition without dominating it, while a dedicated SEN composition created a dialogue between contemporary design and historic interiors, emphasizing the system’s versatility across different contexts.
At the booth of our partner OIDO at Salone del Mobile, the focus was on the interaction between space, acoustics, and light. Defined by a strong red spatial concept, the installation created a distinctive visual identity, while the lighting enhanced perception, materiality, and orientation without overpowering the architecture.
Milan Design Week 2026 once again highlighted that light goes far beyond its functional role. As a precise architectural tool, it enables designers to structure space, define atmosphere, and bring complex design concepts to life.
