Design Festival Bern

Where Quodes designer Alfredo Häberli and Paul Klee meet.

During Design Festival Bern, designer of our Stammplatz chair Alfredo Häberli will present his exhibition ‘Walk the Line’. It shows the bridge between object and drawing, between Alfredo Häberli and Paul Klee.

Fascinated by the statement of Paul Klee, ‘drawing is like going for a walk with a pencil’, Häberli discovered that he felt the same. For Alfredo designing in his sketchbook, feels like an ‘endless walk with his pencil’.

The shape of the moulded wooden backside of the Stammplatz chair is a characteristic example of endless lines – the way Häberli typically likes to draw - and therefore has the honour to be exhibited at this unique exposition.

The Stammplatz is inspired by the handmade wooden chairs often seen in the Swiss Alps and is designed to complement the Stammtisch table. At Saturday the 5th of May Alfredo Häberli will give a lecture at 14:00.

Walk the Line – Zentrum Paul Klee, Monument im Fruchtland 3, 3006 Bern. Open 5th until 7th May from 10am to 6pm.

The Stammplatz is available with and without upholstered seating
