Radiatori 2000 wins the Red Dot Design Award 2016 with Ottimo, the Group’s first design die-cast aluminium radiator

The Italian Group - Fecs - is happy to announce that one Group's brand name won the prestigious award Red Dot Design Award in Germany.

Radiatori 2000 confirms its global leadership in the field of recycled aluminium by winning, with Ottimo, the 2016 edition of the Red Dot Design Award, one of the most prestigious international awards that selects the best design projects every year, according to criteria of excellence. The official award giving ceremony will take place on 4 July in Essen, Germany, during a gala evening at the Aalto Theatre and the Red Dot Design Museum.

An independent panel composed of 41 experts from the sector acknowledged the design value, the innovative features and the eco-sustainability aspects of Ottimo, the die-cast radiator designed by Meneghello Paolelli Associati, a model that transformed the very notion of classical radiators to reflect the principles of design. Ottimo was selected from among 5,214 products from 57 countries.

Ottimo is a design radiator that reinterprets the traditional appearance of mass produced radiators with a contemporary flair, with softer, gentler lines: it is a timeless object that conveys an impression of novelty and a strong aesthetic appeal for classic and design interiors alike. The aesthetic solutions that lighten the appearance of this model were obtained through the use of die-cast aluminium, which made it possible to minimise the thickness and weight of the elements. All the models in the Ottimo line are modular and can be installed side-by-side.

“Receiving our seventh Red Dot Design Award with Ottimo, is an honour for us, and makes us very proud, since this is not any product, rather it is the first ever radiator made from die-cast aluminium that can be defined as a design product. This Red Dot Award is the synthesis of a team effort in which all the players contributed to the creation of a technical product that is muted and aesthetically pleasing, and that has raised the classical die-cast aluminium radiator to a higher level. The fact that an international jury viewed this innovation as deserving of the most important international design award is simply fantastic,” said designers Sandro Meneghello and Marco Paolelli.

“I am very happy to receive this recognition, which once again gives evidence of Radiatori 2000’s capacity to be more and more competitive from the standpoints of industrial production and stylistic research. My gratitude goes to the team that works every day to take up new challenges and bring prestige to the heater sector, making heating design into a centre of attention in the home. Moreover, this award is a significant reward for the companies that bank on the virtues of Made-in-Italy production and continue to work in the territory, in pursuit of eco-sustainability,” stated Olivo Foglieni, President of Radiatori 2000.
