Top athletes from Brazil are training for the 2016 Olympics on Regupol tartan tracks.

The full name of the training site is “Complexo de Atletismo Professor Oswaldo Terra”, but people tend to call it just the “São Bernardo track”. The Regupol AG running surface was installed by Recoma, BSW''s exclusive distributor for Brazil. A total of 7,895 m2 of Regupol AG in capri blue and sky blue were processed. The track and field facility includes an 8-lane, 400 m track, two long- and triple jump facilities directly in front of the grand stand, two full D-areas as a warm-up track inside the adjoining training centre. The track and field facilities were surveyed, measured and tested and do now carry a Class I certificate by IAAF.

Athletes and their coaches already call the Regupol track the best synthetic track and the best track and field facility in all of Latin America. This was how Sergio Schildt, managing director of Recoma, summed up his impressions during the opening ceremony.

This is already the third high profile Regupol track that Recoma has installed in São Paulo. All three of them are used to prepare for the Olympic Games and for other major events.

Athletes at the “Estádio Ícaro De Castro Melo” (also called “Estádio do Ibirapuera”) train on a blue synthetic surface as well, while athletes at the “Centro Olímpico de Treinamento e Pesquisa” (COTP) train on a surface designed in traditional red. These two tracks also carry a Class I certificate issued by the IAAF.
