A challenging change of intended use, a stimulating project full of opportunities: Chromastudio has turned a modern and linear office into a welcoming home through a play of colours, coverings and décor that distinguishes the team's approach to design.

The particular layout of the room, with access through a narrow corridor, was an important input for the main objective of the intervention, i.e. to enhance the reduced spaces of a 50 m2 two-room apartment, trying to make the most of some areas . Through the use of targeted colors as well as chromatic and decorative combinations with mirrors and wallpaper, Chromastudio satisfied the client's requests: a young independent girl, looking for a practical and welcoming place at the same time, where she can experience everyday life in a versatile way.

Color has been interpreted as an excellent tool not only to give an identity to the rooms, but also to stimulate moods and positive sensations and influencing the emotions of those who live in the spaces.

“Colours bring with them a universal message, the result of cultural and historical evolution; their communication skills are very powerful – says Elga Ancona, co-founder of Chromastudio. In this house we opted for a soft and harmonious palette, which ranged from sage to brick red passing through powder blue to make the house welcoming and comfortable".

In the living area, two different shades of pine green express regeneration and rebirth, invite you to breathe more deeply and convey trust and security. The palette also includes white which acts as a neutral canvas, lightens the environment and gives balance and serenity.

The heart of this house is the kitchen, dynamic and multifunctional, which gives openness and sociability. The wise use of brick red increases energy and stimulates the appetite. The wallpaper is the common thread that connects it to the entrance. The design, which reproduces a curtain, accompanies the eye as it discovers the apartment and softens the rigid lines of the narrow access corridor. The canned effect mixes with the color and the decorations of the wallpaper, breaking up the continuous walls with a three-dimensional play of solids and voids. These are plaster panels made up of rounded vertical "rods", the presence of which gives plays of light and tone-on-tone shadows.

In the bathroom it was decided to play with the wooden partition which, with its rectangular sections, gives added value in terms of functionality, chromatic harmony and dynamism. This is, by choice, the most restful room in the entire apartment, a place to leave the tensions of the day behind and take your time, through materials, colors and textures that help reconnect with nature. The use of sage color infuses a feeling of balance and regeneration, associated with natural oak wood, it recalls uncontaminated places.

The design intention was to enhance the long walls of this room, which are reflected in each other. The left side has got the large sink in fenix and oak, separated from the sanitary area by the separé also in oak. This wall was imagined as a sort of chessboard, where the two-dimensional enamel is associated with the three-dimensional tiles, creating vertical and horizontal sections precisely through the use of wood.

The fiberglass wallpaper that occupies the entire front wall is reflected in the large circular mirror. The walk-in shower, designed as a real relaxation space, occupies the entire back of the room for comfortable and pleasant use.

A combination that enhances the sensory aspects and the warmth of this material, which is well suited to being shaped in a sophisticated and elegant way. Concrete is perceived as soft, warm, almost sensual. A raw, structural material that rediscovers itself as velvety and gentle. The tactile dimension makes the daily use of taps a real sensory experience, which is completed by the visual dimension: it is the eye that senses that porosity which becomes softness to the touch.

The wall-mounted version for the washbasin recalls the same finish as the shower area, right down to the shower head for a uniform and harmonious design.
