Châtelet-les-Halles UNDERGROUND

Manufacturing a custom-made glass wall tile

In 2008, the firm Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti won the architectural competition for the largest Parisian construction project: the renovation of the Parisian underground. A place of passage, a meeting place, an iconic place where more than 750,000 travelers cross paths every day.

2018 saw the world's largest metro station change its skin and adorn itself with an 11,500m² glass mantle, with silver undulations.

1,024,505 glass wall tiles manufactured by LA ROCHERE are installed throughout the Châtelet – Les Halles station in the 1st arrondissement of Paris.

This wall tile, the result of a collaboration with the architectural firm Patrick Berger and Jacques Anziutti, creators of the Canopée, reinterprets the magic of glass, its transparency and lightness, giving it balanced and colorful curves for a unique luminous vibrancy.
