NEW: coated architectural fabric by Shelter-Rite

Shelter-Rite® architectural fabric by Seaman Corporation provides an attractive, sheltered walkway at the Nerang Railway Station for passengers on the new electrified rail network between Brisbane and the gold Coast of Queensland, Australia.

The tension membrane structure is comprised of two identical fan-shaped structures shading the passenger access areas on the east and west sides of the stations. Membranes are bordered by arch curves on all sides - two horizontal and two vertical - to provide modern light in the entryway.

VESL Tension Span created and installed the tension membrane systems, using Seaman's MW fluoropolymer coated architectural fabric with a self-cleaning surface that will last for many years, even at a transport interchange where a lot of dirt and fumes are in the air.

The membrane also provides high levels of even filtered light in the passenger access areas, allowing a smooth transition from the darker underground areas.

The design also provides for an attractive integration between the membrane and the other materials, including steel work, glass blocks and pre-cast walls.
