HOW IS A SLAMP LAMP CREATED?
2 new collections, 2 innovative processes bring them to life
From Alessandro Mendini’s masterpiece in the early nineties, to Zaha Hadid’s majestic Aria collection,
to Robert Wilson’s recent La Traviata, every Slamp lamp is created from internationally-patented
technology, beginning from a two-dimensional techno-polymer plastic sheet (our current selection
includes 78 types, differing in finishes, thickness, and available colours), that eventually becomes a
highly-decorative three-dimensional form.
How is flat material manipulated?
How does it go from two to three dimensions?
How important is Slamp’s handmade manufacturing to its lamps?
Our company is revealing everything, inviting you into its laboratory to help you understand the most
important moments of the artisan processes that have made every Slamp product unique since 1994.
No two lamps are exactly alike. Hanami was inspired by cherry blossom branches, and Dimple required 8 months
of research to acquire the designers’ desired “crackle” effect. The two are both recent, excellent examples of these
processes.
