The Eiffel Tower equips itself with BRUM urban misters to cool down its visitors

This summer, four BRUM urban misting units manufactured by TF URBAN were installed on the Eiffel Tower's forecourt to offer visitors cool, refreshing spaces during periods of intense heat.

Chosen by the Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, this urban misting solution allows visitors to enjoy a refreshing break in the shade while benefiting from a temperature drop of up to 8 to 10°C. An emblematic project that demonstrates the ability of urban cooling equipment to improve comfort in the busiest public spaces.

A source of coolness at the foot of the Eiffel Tower

Among the most visited monuments in the world, the Eiffel Tower welcomes several million visitors every year. As periods of intense heat become more frequent, creating comfort spaces has become a major challenge in ensuring a pleasant experience for the public.

To address this issue, four BRUM urban furniture units were deployed on the monument's forecourt through the month of September.

Combining seating, shaded areas, and a misting system, they offer visitors a genuine resting space and help make the wait more comfortable during the summer season.

Why did the Eiffel Tower choose the BRUM urban mister?

The BRUM model was designed to address the new challenges linked to global warming and the adaptation of public spaces.

Thanks to its high-performance misting system, it makes it possible to:

reduce the perceived temperature by 8 to 10°C;
create an urban cool island accessible to everyone;
improve user comfort during heatwaves;
enhance public spaces with furniture of strong usage quality.

This approach convinced the Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel to select this solution for its forecourt.

BRUM, urban cooling furniture designed for public spaces

Designed by Alexandre Moronnoz, BRUM goes beyond the simple function of a mister.

It was conceived as genuine comfort-focused urban furniture integrating several uses:

sitting;
shelter from the sun;
enjoying light misting;
creating spaces for meeting and relaxation.

From the very first days of installation, visitors naturally made the furniture their own, while children turned the misting areas into play and cool-down spaces.

Urban misting, a response to urban heat islands

The intensification of heat events is leading local authorities to rethink the design of their public spaces.

Urban misting solutions now play a role in creating cool islands that help limit the effects of urban heat islands in city centers, public squares, parks, and tourist sites.

These systems help to:

maintain the appeal of outdoor spaces;
improve thermal comfort;
encourage the use of public spaces in summer;
adapt cities to climate change.

The installation at the Eiffel Tower is a concrete illustration of how this kind of equipment can be integrated into extremely high-traffic sites.

An inspiring reference for local authorities and planners

The installation of BRUM urban misters at the Eiffel Tower is a major reference point for local authorities, architects, landscape designers, and public space managers.

It shows that it is possible to combine:

user comfort;
aesthetic quality;
equipment durability;
adaptation to extreme heat;
enhancement of public spaces.

This project also confirms the relevance of urban cooling solutions in contemporary urban planning projects.

What is an urban mister?

An urban mister is a piece of equipment designed to cool outdoor public spaces by diffusing a fine water mist.

Installed on a square, in a park, near a public facility, or at a tourist site, it helps create zones of thermal comfort during periods of intense heat.

Urban misters are now used by many local authorities to strengthen the resilience of their public spaces against heatwaves.
