Transformad promotes the reuse of materials and the reduction of waste by combining robotics and artificial vision

The commitment of the Hi-Tech surfaces company remains firm in favor of sustainability, also with the use of renewable energy and self-consumption

Transformad has implemented in the Tmatt, the supermatt, anti-fingerprint and self-regenerating surface a production process with new technology based on robotics and artificial vision. The goal is to make the most of the materials used during manufacturing and reduce the amount of waste that is generated. Thanks to the new technologies implemented, small surface defects can be detected once the lacquering process is finished. Through this traceability and the early detection of errors, it is possible to reduce the time to correct the cause of the defect, as well as to take advantage of the part of the board that is in perfect condition for other uses and thus, reduce the generation of waste.

Transformad, a company that has FSC® and PEFC ™ forest management certifications, has long relied on green and renewable energy and self-consumption with photovoltaic panels as one of the pillars of its environmental policy. In addition, the vision of the company when conceiving the new Tmatt surface was to produce a lacquered board that could be manufactured with woods from sustainable forests and in which the use of solvents was not necessary.

Carlos Menéndez, general director of Transformad, believes that “more and more consumers and manufacturers are aware that our actions must be linked to make sustainable use of resources and, in fact, the demand for products that respect the environment on the rise”. For Transformad, the transformation towards sustainability has meant a greater internationalization of the company and has been key to being able to compete in highly sensitive markets with environmental issues.

Carlos Menéndez maintains that “as today, it is no longer negotiable not to invest in innovation, nor is it not negotiable not to do so in sustainability.”
