Stable structure secures attractive car park

Given the large number of vehicles which drive in and out of the underground car park in Moosburg every day, the surface is subject to extreme stresses. Over the course of many years of use, cracks developed in the concrete surface. Since the drainage situation was not ideal due to the lack of gradient, chlorides dissolved in dew were able to penetrate through the cracks to the steel reinforcement, where they caused major corrosion damage. During the planning phase further chloride damage in the area of the intermediate storey ceiling, the foundation slab and the rising components became evident. As a consequence, the concrete had to be completely removed at several points and reapplied.

In order to preserve the underground car park and superstructures in the long term, a waterproofing system was needed which would reliably protect the reinforced concrete structure from chemical and mechanical influences. In order to reduce the length of time the car park had to be closed, a waterproofing solution was used which is quick to apply and requires only minimal curing times. The aim of refurbishment was to create a surface which is both wear-resistant and non-slip and which is safe to use in the rain, ice and snow. Based on these demands, the planning office recommended that the owners opt for the waterproofing system which is suitable for vehicular traffic: Triflex ProPark.

This system is based on fast-curing PMMA resins and offers a high degree of application safety, particularly for demanding refurbishment projects. The full-surface fleece-reinforced system solution is applied as a liquid and adheres both to the substrate and to the individual functional layers. This results in shear-resistant adhesion which prevents any underflow and the detachment of individual layers.

Thanks to the low build-up height and surface weight, additional structural measures are not required and, as such, the costs and refurbishment time are minimised. Highly resilient with dynamic crack bridging, Triflex ProPark is unaffected by any movement of the structure. This, in turn, guarantees high waterproofing security. The special, highly abrasion-resistant surface provides long-lasting grip and safeguards use and thus income for the operator in the long term.
