Ulap design launches the Unahi lamps collection
Ulap design is proud to present its new collection of eco-friendly and made in Italy lamps.
Ulap design, an Italian company engaged in the slow design sector since 2017, announces the launch of its new collection of Unahi lamps. Proud of the acclaim obtained in the lighting sector in previous years, the company has decided to focus on the development of suspensions and appliques to recreate the play of light encountered while walking in the woods inside the spaces. Thus was born the Unahi collection, much more than simple lamps.
All the products in the Unahi by Ulap design collection are made following a process that rewards craftsmanship and respect for the environment. Produced in birch plywood, they are finished and assembled by hand one by one and subsequently treated with a special wax-vegetable oil. In the ebony and bicolor versions, the lamps are ebonized by hand with a special ebony-colored mordant. The production process of the Unahi lamps follows the slow design philosophy, providing ample space for manual processing.
The Unahi lamp collection by Ulap design includes nine objects:
- Unahi 1.0 (available in three versions: natural, ebony and bicolor) - a suspension lamp born from a moment of play, made up of 74 pieces of wood all worked, finished and assembled by hand
The three Unahi 1.0 lamps recall the shape of a pine cone and the flashes of light that can be seen by carefully observing its flakes
- Unahi 2.0 (available in two versions: natural and ebony) - a suspension lamp born from a storm, made up of 92 pieces of wood all worked, finished and assembled by hand
The two Unahi 2.0 lamps are inspired by the shape of a dew drop hanging from the thread of a spider's web and the kaleidoscopic play of light it gives us
- Unahi 2.1 (available in two versions: natural and ebony) - a wall and/or ceiling lamp (applique) born from an embrace, made up of 92 pieces of wood all worked, finished and assembled by hand
The two Unahi 2.1 lamps are inspired by the shape of a raindrop hanging from a blade of grass after a stormy night
- Unahi 3.0 (available in two versions: natural and ebony) - a suspension lamp born from a crackle, formed by 303 pieces of wood all worked, finished and assembled by hand
The two Unahi 3.0 lamps are inspired by the shape of a corolla and the softness with which the sunlight rests on it
“Time, care and craftsmanship come together to make these design objects real one-of-a-kind high quality pieces”. So declares Cris Tumedei, CEO of Ulap, who continues: “The claim of the collection is: as nature illuminates. A sentence that contains the deepest essence of this long work. In fact, like every Ulap design project, the nine Unahi lamps too have followed a complex design process that has allowed us to obtain products that enhance the union between Slow Design and Made in Italy".
In fact, the Trentino company has been committed since its inception to promoting the slow philosophy through its products, with the aim of stimulating a change towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
“The inspiration came slowly, on several occasions, walking in the forests of our area: the Valle di Ledro. We often found ourselves wanting to capture the play of light on camera. And this is how the idea was born to design a series of lamps that could give that same show of flashes that we - fortunately - can witness every day. How beautiful would it be to bring the light of the woods into a loft in New York or a Parisian apartment? Thus began the design process”. This is the statement of Andrea Pregl, co-founder and designer of Ulap design.
The result is a collection of heterogeneous lamps, albeit strongly characterized, with a minimal and contemporary style. A combination that has allowed the Unahi by Ulap design lamps to stand out for their urban character. Perfect for those looking for an impactful, natural and unconventional design.
