Futura : the new product 2015 of Vistosi, a collection of pendant lamps that renews the collaboration with Hangar Design

Futura is projected into tradition. A statement that does not want to be an effective oxymoron, but that actually explains, together with the essence of this precious design product, the philosophy of Vistosi: a glass factory that has turned Murano glass craftsmanship into pure innovation, by creating, from a millenary art, a product that looks to the future.

Futura is a modern lighting system, which was born from an ancient idea. From the tradition of ancient glass, as we said, and from a traditional form – which goes back to the suggestions of old lanterns, for centuries the only light sources in the night – but a tradition that was made objective, rational, clean. Vistosi’s style is all in the body of the lamp, the transparent and streamlined shape of the glass, which the creativity of Hangar Design Group has reinterpreted by cutting it with a sort of graphic, metal ring with a semi-raw effect: a gentle but clear-cut connection with the transparency of the glass, which was

blown in one piece and made transparent in the upper part and diffuser in the bottom part by

Vistosi’s handcraft process. All that aims at the triumph of pure light, enhanced by soft colours that were chosen to make illumination even more natural and only slightly altered.

This expressive research in finely matched materials makes this pendant lamp suitable for spaces rich with stories to tell. So it was also the case of Futura limited edition, Peggy, designed by Hangar Design Group in 2014 to welcome visitors in the Museum Café of Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, home to the renowned Guggenheim collection in Venice.

From this rationalist and sophisticated insight the new Futura collection was born: here its essential spirit and “graphic” inspiration evolve and become three-dimensional, in a game of full and empty parts where light is always the protagonist.

Whether in its three exclusive colours combined with different finishes of the metal ring, or single in its purity of expression or in a group of different-sized pendant lamps: in all of its versions, Futura is a lighting system that perfectly combines with a contemporary lifestyle.
