The “apparent” third dimension of ceramics: SHADES

A measured and elegant play of chromatic saturation and tonal contrasts gives life to the ceramic material itself: SHADES.

As a result of the collaboration of the architect Marco Piva with Casalgrande Padana, SHADES is the new porcelain stoneware collection that takes advantage of chromatic variations and contrasts to generate completely innovative effects of three-dimensionality.

All this derives from the designer’s recent work of studies and processings with a mixed media tecnique that include pencil, watercolour, tempera, and acrylic, used to develop a new form of material on the surface of the artwork through the stratification and interaction of colours.

Leaving an elegant artistic touch of himself on a product already well-known thanks to its strong technical qualities, distinctive in the Casalgrande Padana's production, Marco Piva transforms the ceramic material creating effects of depth and apparent volume on the flat ceramic surface itself.

SHADES is a refined decorative process inspired by “material design” and applied to the ever evolving surface of ceramics, and enriches the “Resina” collection with the colours of Black, Grey e Tobacco.
